I think it's safe to say that at some point in all of our lives we find ourselves worrying or anxious about something. I know personally, I have dealt with anxiety for many years and I know it can seem impossible at times to get rid of these overwhelming feelings. I want to encourage you that anxiety does not have to dictate your life, and you can move past it and find freedom from anxiety.
I love this reminder in Philippians 4, it paints a beautiful picture for us of just how much our God loves us and desires to have a relationship with us. When we walk through worry and anxiety, we can find peace in the midst of it all through Christ.
"Do not worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God's peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7
Anxiety can be crippling. I never realized just how much the body is effected by anxiety, until I experienced it myself. I can remember being so anxious to the point I would became physically sick with worry. I remember one day I was so sick and I had a conversation with my dad. He grabbed my bible and started flipping through its pages showing me scripture after scripture that pointed to the love of God casting out all fear and anxiety.
I was reminded of just how loved we are by God! He cares so much about us that He continuously reminds us of just how loved we are. My dad reminded me that we don't need to worry about anything because God knows what we need.
"Leave your worries with Him, because He cares for you." - 1 Peter 5:7
You know, I think sharing some of the scriptures I held close to heart through my journey with over coming anxiety with you guys, might help provide a glimpse of the hope and freedom found in Christ.
"Look at the birds: they do not plant seeds, gather a harvest and put it in barns; yet your Father in heaven takes care of them! Aren't you worth much more than birds? Can any of you ll live a bit longer; or grow a bit taller. by worrying about it? And why worry about clothes? Look how the wild flowers grow: they do not work or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you that not even King Solomon with all his wealth had clothes as beautiful as one of these flowers. It is God who clothes the wild grass—grass that is here today and gone tomorrow, burned up in the oven. Won't he be all the more sure to clothe you? What little faith you have!" - Matthew 6:26-30
This passage helped me a lot with understanding that I don't have to worry about what tomorrow may bring. If God cares that much about the birds of the air and the flowers, how much more do you think He cares for you? You are so loved by the creator, you don't need to worry about what the future may hold when you know the one who holds the future.
I'll leave you with one last passage, and a reminder that you are never alone no matter what you may be walking through.
"If the Lord had not helped me, I would have gone quickly to the land of silence. I said, “I am falling”; but your constant love, O Lord, held me up. Whenever I am anxious and worried, you comfort me and make me glad." -Psalm 94:17-19
Be anxious for nothing friends, and remember you know the one who holds tomorrow.
Much love friends,
Alianna
