Breath and Believe...

Writer: Alianna Alianna

Sometimes I think believing is a lot like breathing. It is something we have to do. We can't survive without breathing and I honestly think in order for us to not only survive, but to thrive we have to believe in something. I know we have talked about it before, but I just want to say it again. In order to push forward and continue to grow and mature we need to believe and trust that our God is in control.

John 6:69 tells us,

"We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God."

I think that this is such a beautiful reminder that our God is holy and He is just. He is with us and He is the source of true living. I love the reminder and the instruction found in John 14:11,

"Just believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or at least believe because of the works you have seen me do."

It can sometimes feel like we are stuck holding our breath, unable to keep moving forward. But we have to breath at some point. Eventually we have to stop holding our breath and actually breath and keep moving forward. Sometimes faith can feel like that.

Like we are stuck in the same old cycle going round and round. When the way out is believing through faith and pushing forward even when it makes no sense. I love what John 11:25-26 tells us,

"Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

It is honestly a challenge, a challenge to believe even when we cannot see. A challenge to have faith and trust even when doing so may mean others treat you differently. It is a challenge to breath, when it feels easier to hold your breath.

And in Mark 9:23 we are reminded,

"If you can?' said Jesus, 'Everything is possible for one who believes.'"

When we believe and have faith in our God, nothing is impossible. I believe it is so important for us to remember that our God is good and He is holy. He never goes back on His word.

The last verse/passage of scripture that I want to look at together today is from 1 Peter 1:8-9,

"You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls."

What a good God friends! I know sometimes it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel and it can seem like holding our breath and trying to make it through is the only option, but I promise you that it is not. Just breath and believe friends! Trust that our God is walking right there beside you.

Much love friends,

Alianna
