Life is often crazy and unexpected, but it can also be extremely beautiful at the same time. I was recently thinking about how it can be so easy to allow the things happening around us dictate how we react in different situation. I'm guilty of this myself, I can't count the amount of times I have found myself allowing what was happening around me to stop/ limit me from what I know I am supposed to be doing.
I want to encourage you, it doesn't have to stay that way. I know it can be hard and it often doesn't make sense but when we allow God to define us and the promises found throughout scripture to define who we are, I honestly think that though it doesn't always make life less difficult it does make it better and so beautiful.
I remember a few years ago walking through some of the hardest moments of my life, I remember a friend of mine asking me how I was so positive. She asked me how I could smile and joke around with everyone while I was walking through such a difficult season. I'm going to be completely honest with you, I honestly didn't know how to respond to her at first. I mean, I was just trying to continue living life to the fullest and walking out the call God has placed on my life.
There is no darkness in the presence of God. He is light, and those who have relationship with Him walk in the light.
I thought about it for a while before I finally responded to her. I realized, it didn't matter what situation or trial I was or am walking through my God is and was still good. Even when I can't see it or feel it He is still good and He is still God. He already knows what the future holds and I know I can place every worry and fear I have in His hands. I love what scripture tells us,
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." - 1 Peter 5:6-7
Throughout scripture we see numerous reminders that we don't need to worry about what the future may hold or even what the season we are currently walking through may lead to. Instead we can trust God to carry us through it all.
"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved." - Psalm 55:22
It doesn't matter what I'm feeling or the struggle I may be walking through, He has already won every battle I will ever face and through it all He is still good. So, the next time you fin yourself struggling through a difficult season, remember that He is still good, no matter what and He knows exactly what you're going through.
"God knows what you need. He knows what is best for you - including in what quantity. The fact is, we can live very little, but we can never truly live without God. He is what we need first, foremost, and always. He is the only one whom we truly can't do without!"
So, I'll remind you once again what I told her that day. I don't know what the future holds, but what I do know is that my God is good and He knows what He is doing. No matter what He is still good.
He is good and he knows exactly what the future holds.
