I have always found it fascinating how it is possible to have a million thoughts racing through our minds yet seem so unbothered and relaxed on the outside. As individuals we have become so good at hiding our thoughts and emotions that those around us only see the small parts of us we allow to be seen. In fact a few weeks ago I found myself setting in front of my sliding glass door looking out at my backyard lost in thought.
I don't know about you guys, but I find myself more often then I would like to admit getting lost in thought, as a million little things run through my mind at once. There is always something that needs attention, an assignment, work, family life, etc. I think it is important to realize that it is okay to take some time to refresh and allow your brain a chance to rest. However, that's not what I want to focus on for the moment.
Way more often then I would like, I find myself down, sometimes emotionally exhausted and at other times mentally done for the day. After hours of working on project after project, I don't want to do anything other then grab a cup of coffee and listen to some music. However, as we all know life still goes on even when we want to stop everything and simply do nothing. A few weeks ago while I was setting in front of that door, I found myself realizing I was allowing the lies of the enemy to still my joy and drain away the light within me.
I was alone at the time and I did the first thing I could think to do, I stood up and said aloud, "I'm loved, cherished and needed. I am a Child of God and I am enough!" I then turned on some worship music and let the words wash over me reminding myself of the truth of the lyrics. I want to encourage you to do the same next time you find yourself down, get up and remind yourself who you are and whose you are. Over the years I have found that when we remind ourselves what God says about us, there is nothing that can stop us from learning who we really are.
I want to encourage you to find someone you can be open and honest with. I know it can be hard to let others in and express the thoughts many of us keep locked up inside. Take it from me, when you allow someone in and stop carrying everything by yourself life gets a lot brighter. There is a saying - a penny for your thoughts.
I remember the first time I heard it, I was depressed and tired of holding everything in and carrying a weight far to heavy. Someone simply sat with me, they didn't push or tell me everything would be fine over and over again. No, they simply sat with me and told I wasn't alone. They allowed me to talk to them when I needed to and at other times they just kept me company.
I want to encourage you to find someone you can talk to. Please know I pray for all of you and I hope you understand the importance of what I'm saying.

No matter what life throws your way please always remember who you are and what God says about you. You are loved more then you could ever know and you are always enough.
You have a God-given uniqueness!
