Have you ever had one of those moments where you just feel so weak? Like it doesn't matter how much rest you get or how much good nutrition you put in your body, you just feel weak and like all the strength you have is gone? Me too. And let me tell you it is not a fun place to be. It is lonely, and can even leave you feeling broken and vulnerable.
I remember a few years ago walking through a season like that and feeling so alone and weak. I felt for a lack of a better term, broken. Today as I sat down to write I was reminded of that season and felt like I needed to remind all of you that God's strength is made perfect in your weakness. This passage from Isaiah 40 keeps coming to mind, verses 28-31 tell us,
" Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. Even youths will become weak and tired and young men will fall in exhaustion. But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
This is such a powerful passage of scripture, and its so true. For our human minds (as complex as they are) can not fully comprehend the majesty and power of the Creator. Follow me here, if you look at the human anatomy all the way down to a microscopic level the complexity is mind boggling. The very same God who created the whole earth took the time to hand craft you in your mother's womb.
He knew since the beginning of time what you would look like, how you would act, and what you would become. Don't you see he has marked you with a destiny far greater than you even realize, even from the beginning of time he already had a purpose for you. That's why this verse is so powerful to me, see it says he gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. When we are weak he is strong, because in our weakness his strength is found. I love what 2 Corinthians 12:9 says,
"But he said to me,' My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
You see it is often in our weakness that we find Christ's strength. The verse then continues by reminding us that though we will grow weak and exhausted, all we have to do is trust in the Lord and our strength will be renewed. It's really that simple! Don't you see? When we place our trust in Jesus and not in the things of this world, it doesn't matter what the enemy throws our way.
We can stand and proudly proclaim that every weapon formed against us will not stand and every blow of the enemy is dusted off, because our trust is not in the finite things of this world. No, our trust is in the infinite power of our God, the God who gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless. The God who in our weakness his strength is made perfect. Our trust is in the Name that is Above every other Name!
I love this picture found within scripture, that in my weakness I am made strong. That God's strength is made perfect in my weakness. In those moments that I feel like I have nothing left, God's strength is more than enough to carry me. It's more than enough for you too friends!
Much love friends,
Alianna
