Tenderhearted and Full of Mercy...

Lately a verse from Colossians has been at the forefront of my mind, and I'd like to share it with you.


"Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." - Colossians 3:12

It is interesting to me just how often people tend to see these characteristics mentioned above as being weakness. Being tenderhearted and full of mercy, showing kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience should never be thought of as being weak, on the contrary. All of these characteristics should be seen as strengths.


Our God is rich in mercy and slow to anger friends! He is good and He is kind, but you know what? Society has manipulated the definition of good friends. What the world sees as good, is not really good. Sadly, even what many "christians" see as good is not really good. God is good and His ways, plans, and purposes are good. Without God there is no goodness, yet society and culture have tried to flip this concept and tell us that whatever makes us feel nice or look a certain way must be good.


NO! That is not what is good friends. The Bible clearly tells us that God is good and goodness comes from Him. Good is not based on feelings or social cues. Goodness is found in God.


"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things." - Philippians 4:8

No matter what society and culture tries to convince you is good, remember that God is good and all goodness comes from Him.
