The Anchor Holds

Writer's picture: Alianna Alianna

I can't think of a better way to write then with a cup of coffee and worship playing in the background. As I sat down to write today, I find myself once again unsure of what I should say. I find it is usually in these moments that God is teaching me something new that's just as much you all of you as it is for me.

Today as I was reading through scripture I was reminded of the song "The Anchor Holds" the chorus is so powerful it says ~

' The anchor holds though the ship is battered. The anchor holds though the sails are torn. I have fallen on my knees as I faced the raging seas. The anchor holds in spite of the storm. I've had visions, I've had dreams, I've even held them in my hand but I never knew they would slip right through like they were only grains of sand. The anchor holds though the ship is battered. The anchor holds though the sails are torn. I have fallen on my knees as I face the raging seas the anchor holds in spite of the storm'

This song is so special to me in more ways than one. When I was a little girl my dad would sing this song to me, as I got older I forgot all about this song. That is until 2018, when I walked through one of the hardest seasons of my life.

The words of this song really pinpoint the emotions I had raging within. Even in those moments that I felt like I had nothing left the anchor still held firm, even when the storm I was facing seemed too devastating the anchor still held firm.

My favorite line is when it says

'I have fallen on my knees as I faced the raging seas, but the anchor holds in spite of the storm.'

I hope you understand the impact of this line. That even in the middle of your storm whatever it may be, I hope you know that the Anchor will always hold firm. I love what Hebrews 6:19 says ~

"This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary."

Much love friends,

Alianna
