I can't think of a better way to write then with a cup of coffee and worship playing in the background. As I sat down to write today, I find myself once again unsure of what I should say. I find it is usually in these moments that God is teaching me something new that's just as much you all of you as it is for me.
Today as I was reading through scripture I was reminded of the song "The Anchor Holds" the chorus is so powerful it says ~
' The anchor holds though the ship is battered. The anchor holds though the sails are torn. I have fallen on my knees as I faced the raging seas. The anchor holds in spite of the storm. I've had visions, I've had dreams, I've even held them in my hand but I never knew they would slip right through like they were only grains of sand. The anchor holds though the ship is battered. This song is so special to me in more ways than one. When I was a little girl my dad would sing this song to me, as I got older I forgot all about this song. That is until 2018, when I walked through one of the hardest seasons of my life.
The words of this song really pinpoint the emotions I had raging within. Even in those moments that I felt like I had nothing left the anchor still held firm, even when the storm I was facing seemed too devastating the anchor still held firm.
My favorite line is when it says
'I have fallen on my knees as I faced the raging seas, but the anchor holds in spite of the storm.'
I hope you understand the impact of this line. That even in the middle of your storm whatever it may be, I hope you know that the Anchor will always hold firm. I love what Hebrews 6:19 says ~
"This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary."
